How do I request a movie through Kanopy?

Answer

Kanopy’s website allows viewers to fill out a form that allows you to request that your library add a video to its subscription.

MCLA’s library no longer purchases one- or three-year licenses for individual streaming videos; this includes most Kanopy videos.

MCLA does subscribe to a subset of Kanopy called KBASE; these videos are available for unlimited use by the MCLA community.

If the video you are interested in is not included in KBASE, options include:

  • If you are a faculty member and the video is assigned viewing for your class, request the video (via Kanopy or by reaching out to the library directly), and the library will research whether it is available via a life-of-file license or DVD.
  • MCLA students, faculty, staff, and anyone who lives/works/attends school in Massachusetts can watch Kanopy videos using a Boston Public Library eCard (sign up online for instant access). Some local public library cards also offer access to Kanopy. BPL and other libraries may limit the number of Kanopy videos you can view per month.
