How can I watch a Kanopy video using a Boston Public Library eCard?

If you live, work, or attend school in Massachusetts, you are eligible to sign up for an eCard from the Boston Public Library. eCards provide access to the BPL's electronic resources, including ebooks, streaming videos/audio, databases, and more.

Answer

  1. Sign up for a Boston Public Library eCard.
  2. Using the search box at the top of the Boston Public Library homepage, search for the video you are looking for.
  3. Follow links to view the video on Kanopy or other platform.
  4. When prompted to log in, use your BPL eCard barcode and PIN, not your MCLA credentials. Kanopy may prompt you to create a separate Kanopy account. We recommend using a non-MCLA email address and choosing a distinct password to help keep the two accounts separate.
  5. If Kanopy redirects you to request the video from MCLA, try again using an incognito or InPrivate browser window, or a different browser.
